Long before Ceylon Tea warmed the hand that held the cup it was poured in – hands clasped together in greeting – warmed a two-thousand-year-old custom in Sri Lanka of bidding a visitor joy and long life.
Compassion for all living things was embedded in the hearts and minds of Sri Lankans well before the idea of ‘people and planet’ today. We cared. Not to profit. But because it formed the deep spiritual basis of equanimity to all beings.
What follows visitors awestruck by the inescapable beauty of Sri Lanka almost immediately, is the legendary hospitality of its people. Our hospitality are the flowers of our compassionate roots. Sitting down for a meal with Sri Lankans invariably means one’s plate gets served with far more food than one can possibly eat. Several more insistent servings larger than the first are mandatory. This overabundance of friendly helpfulness is a hallmark of our ancient culture even on the street.
We started Ranmal Tea Pty Ltd, a registered company in Sri Lanka and a subsidiary of the Ranmal Group in Australia, in 2021, to dedicate ourselves to carrying on this caring tradition – as a holistic, sustainable business, homegrown on wellbeing and wellness. With the threefold impact of pandemic, climate change and economic stress, health has arguably become the true measure of wealth. Our authentic wellness products such as Herbal Organic Teas and Organic Black Ceylon Tea bring to life our focus for humanity and health and Our Mission: to serve with compassion – to heal with hospitality.
WHO WE ARE
WHEN WE BEGAN
Unnatural to Natural
The conversion from non-organic to organic growing is not an easy one. But the benefits far outweigh the challenges, spanning across the supply chain right to the very heart of it all – people and planet. It’s a simple matter of understanding values and impact. From the environment and the people who work on and off it, to our customers around the globe, we are helping to create a world that cares, understanding that no one profits unless we all do.
Cultivating Good Habits
Our mission to serve with compassion and heal with hospitality is at the root of everything we do. The cause and effect of give and take, when the needs of the planet are equal to the needs of people, begins to manifest into the spring from which true wellness can flow. Since a product is only as pure as its source, we make sure our sustainable footprint is as large as possible extending from 20,000 farmers who grow, harvest and process our organics in Sri Lanka – to our customers enjoying pure non-GMO products worldwide. This way we remain fair and ethical to both ends of the chain, cultivating the holistic essence of caring from beginning to end.
Human and Nature
Sri Lanka’s incredible biodiversity boasts of herbs and spices with miraculous healing properties and acclaimed flavour. Ceylon Cinnamon is a famous instance, sought after by ancient seafaring traders and of unparalleled premium to this day. The natural ingredients contained in our wide range of organic teas, as a result, positively brim with the wellness we want our products to be reputed for. This is, of course, best achieved being close to the source to resonate with impeccable credentials that help you make trustworthy, conscious choices for healthy living.
To Your Health
We see wellness as a holistic outcome of individual and environment unified by compassion, the sum of which is harmony. Our organic teas are contributing not only to the rapid improvement of health because they contain a higher proportion of nutritional properties than non-organic.
It’s simply nature healing back for healing it – reaping the environmental impact of organic farming prompted by conscious rather than conspicuous consumption. That’s aside from the ancient Ayurvedic traditions our organic herbal teas draw on to address a variety of lingering common ailments. That delicious morning cup of tea can make a difference helping to live a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.
Outside and Inside
How customers engage with our product is as important as the product itself. We are committed to ‘friendly helpfulness,’ embracing life cycle inventory and assessment guidelines to make our packaging as sustainable as possible.
Building the Future
It would seem having a home is one of the most basic necessities of life. Yet, more than a billion people lack adequate housing globally. And on any given night, 150 million people, have no shelter at all. Despite government funding programmes, homelessness remains a daunting challenge and one way that companies can assist is through crisis intervention – something we take very seriously at Ranmal Tea. As part of our mission of compassion and hospitality, 1% of sales proceeds will be committed to low-cost housing development in Australia and rural villages in Sri Lanka. We are determined to do more in the future. But for now, it’s a humble beginning to help a few – particularly families – have their own beginning. And a tomorrow to come home to.
Our aspiration *to serve with compassion – to heal with hospitality* remains an enduring investment in the well-being of everyone we connect with, in our backyard and around the world.
